Hi I’m Rick Shiels, welcome to my channel RickShielsPGAGolf. This SE-one channel is designed to help you play better golf, also to help you enjoy your golf more!

I specialise in golf club reviews, golf club unboxing, golf club news, golf club head to heads, and all about golf clubs.

I also want to make you play better golf by providing coaching video on all topics about golf, how to fix your slice, fix your hook, help you drive the golf ball longer, hit your irons more pure, hit your irons closer to the hole and help you draw and fade your golf shots.
I will also help you lower your score by chipping better by stopping you duff and thin chips, pitch the ball closer and also create backspin. Also I will provide you help to putt better and hole more putts!

On this channel I also make fun and entertaining golf content based on crazy and sometimes “gimmicky” golf clubs. I like to cut through the marketing hype about products and I like to give you the honest truth about golf equipment.

If you enjoy the channel make sure you hit subscribe and also tap the notification bell so that you are always notified when I release a new video.

just a great example of a best bang for the buck product. do the Nitro Pulsar or the Wilson Smart Core next!! ---or some performance evaluation /launch monitor numbers of the 'scuffed-up ball' vs a fresh, out of the box one.

All of the srixon balls have durability issues in my opinion. A couple of full wedge shots with the z star xv or a single bunker shot and it’s scuffed or cut no where near as durable as ole reliable prov1/x. The best compliment is that it is a relatively lower spin ball off of driver so you can hit big big drives and it absolutely superb in the wind. Wildly stable and flat flight. I think that is a point that creators often overlook as they practice indoors or play in pristine conditions, but getting a ball that balloons in the wind and drops short of target is the worst.

How long ago did Nike quit making golf balls? These balls were recently used, not buried. I guess their loss is my gain. I could use them in league next week or I think I might just save them

I have used these balls for a number of years, at least 10, after not wanting to pay for a premium ball - don't play enough to not lose balls now. I have definitely noticed a durability change over time. The ball is closely related to the 'soft' feel which I also tried but felt the 'soft' was a little dead compared to this and also a little shorter. I have nothing scientific to back this up though... I wonder whether the durability is down to the 'thin skin' technology which wasn't advertised in the original ball. On pricing - when I first 'found' this ball I was attracted to it on price and it was the same as the soft feel, certainly on multi buy discounts, whereas now it is more expensive. However, can still find it in the 20 pound area which makes it as cheap as premium lake balls...

Never heard of that model. I use Z-Star XV which tests at 111 compression. There are several balls at that level. The only one higher is the Snell MTB-X at 114. The XV bites VERY well, but doesn't scuff up much.

I buy these balls and they're great. Down in NZ, they cost GBP1.04 a ball if you get a 4-dozen bulk special, vs around GBP4 each for a ProV1. I think you'd have to be crazy to pay 4 times more for a ProV1 - if you're good enough to notice the difference then you probably aren't paying for your golf balls anyway!
