Hi I’m Rick Shiels, welcome to my channel RickShielsPGAGolf. This SE-one channel is designed to help you play better golf, also to help you enjoy your golf more!

I specialise in golf club reviews, golf club unboxing, golf club news, golf club head to heads, and all about golf clubs.

I also want to make you play better golf by providing coaching video on all topics about golf, how to fix your slice, fix your hook, help you drive the golf ball longer, hit your irons more pure, hit your irons closer to the hole and help you draw and fade your golf shots.
I will also help you lower your score by chipping better by stopping you duff and thin chips, pitch the ball closer and also create backspin. Also I will provide you help to putt better and hole more putts!

On this channel I also make fun and entertaining golf content based on crazy and sometimes “gimmicky” golf clubs. I like to cut through the marketing hype about products and I like to give you the honest truth about golf equipment.

If you enjoy the channel make sure you hit subscribe and also tap the notification bell so that you are always notified when I release a new video.

Love these tips. What stood out was your grip though. I’ve never noticed actually crossing your fingers before. Is that a rickism or is that actually a controlled common grip? I notice my wrists roll in my backswing and maybe this will help. I’m sure I don’t know to be honest. Couldn’t hurt practicing though.

Hi Rick over the last few weeks I have been watching and learning from your videos and today my handicap of 36 was reduced to 28 after scoring 48 points. I only play four times at most a year but do go to a driving range. I followed your following videos religiously over the last few weeks: Putting Driver set up Iron shots and relaxing and I can honestly say “my game has improved unbelievable Than you Regards Robin

How much air do you have in your lungs when you swing. No air, some air, comfortable amount, or full breath in. I find that when I have a full breath I can’t turn as far same with the comfortable amount of air. Let me know if this makes sense to anyone else or find a better way to say it.

I was working on fixing my slice with a friend of mine who is significantly better than I am (not an accomplishment, admittedly). I really liked his explanation for how hard to grip the club. He told me to hold it like I was holding a small bird in my hand, I don't want to squeeze or hurt the bird, but I don't want it to fly away either. For whatever reason that metaphor made perfect sense to me (despite not being someone who handles small wild birds very often). Seemed to help my grip but it also made me conscious of it, which is great for creating better golf habits.

That fluidity is so underrated. How many times has everyone get to their ball and think/say "I'm just going to hit it" and just walks up and pures a shot with litterally zero though or effort?

Thank you Rick for these tips. My last round of golf was my best round at 81 on a course that I only play when I'm on vacation. I realized I would stand still when I'm over the ball and I wasn't breathing. After adjusting those two things I dropped 9 strokes.

Assuredly, you've heard it countless times on posts already. Your tips are so simple to follow and really, really actually improve your game. I have hit behind the ball for over 30 years and your simple tip of looking a ball or too in front of your swing helped me so much. I refer all by buddies on the course to your site and how your videos can helps them with some, eh, very serious swing flaws. Even though your Brit accent helps with credibility, a Southern drawl would convey the same amazing advice. Cheers!

My game has come on in leaps and bounds during the past 18 months, mainly due to a brilliant club fitting and also Arccos, and have lowered my handicap from 22 to 6. Yet, I have never had a proper lesson, EVER. So, a month ago I asked my club pro to have a casual look and he said I am too tense on the shot, but I didn't quite get it. Now THIS video makes COMPLETE sense to me and I am going to try out those 3 tips today! If you want, I will comment on how it went as Arccos will provide me with tangible feedback so I will know instantly...

I used to have a nasty slice habit for years up until the end of last year and I could never figure out what was wrong...turns out my grip around the club was too tight it wasn't allowing the club face to come back perpendicular to the ball and I'd be hitting 50 yards offline to the right, the high slice as it's called. I still don't have my grip pressure consistent yet but I rarely ever slice the ball like I did years past...I almost grip it too lightly at times and i hit a big hook...much better than a high slice. After watching enough of Rick's videos, I was able to nail down why it was...gripping is a massive overlooked factor of consistent bad shot shape and I'm surprised it's not mentioned as often as it should.

Thanks Rick. I remembered about loosening the grip during my last round and suddenly started striking my irons better. I hit a 5 iron into the green and landed about a foot from the pin. Unfortunately it was hole 9 of a 9 hole course. But it encouraged me for my next round to remember the looser grip. I always find a good last hole fires you up to keep going with golf, even if the holes before it were a bit hit and miss. Thanks again for the tips.

One of the best things I’ve discovered in my game, in regards to gripping the club too tight, I have larger hands and I found that midsize grips have allowed me to hold my clubs more loosely and made it great for me to be more consistent. As a bonus, by loosening my grip, I now release more smoothly and have gained about 10 yards on every club

Unbelievable that these minor and tbh quite obvious tips helped me shoot my best score today in over a year. Just the breathing and the tapping ground, hence not freezing before my drives made a massive difference! Cheers Rick You are the man

Breathing is my fav ….I’ve taught this silly game for many decades and still find myself not breathing in a relaxed manner…thx for reminder… The things we have control of, grip, posture, ball position, tempo etc. prior to swing are what I’ve always stressed to all clients…. Keep up the great videos Rick….your the best!

As a former Baseball player, I have to urge to "grip it and rip it" so the relaxing the hands is a great tip I often neglect

For me, I think I move TOO much before I hit. Its gotten to the point where I just can't stop moving my feet on some shots. I am nervous or uncomfortable, and I am basically moving until I am no longer, but some times that just doesn't happen. I can always tell when I am about to hit a bad shot, because my feed just wont stop. Sad how much my mental game holds me back honestly.

Would be great to see a round with a sports psychologist giving tips. Also would like to see more of the shots of the people you are playing with. Gets a bit repetitive watching Rick miss putts 😉

Love the videos, I recently started golfing for the first time two days ago. Unfortunately I have been using right handed clubs as I have been looking for left handed clubs anytime on a brand new left handed to golf?
